At Georgetown's peak the town boasted a population of 5,000 residents. Once Congress repealed the Sherman Silver Purchase Act, however, the population of Georgetown dwindled. Today Georgetown's residents who number nearly 1,000, invite you to explore their city's past. Located west of Denver off of I-70, Georgetown offers you a unique town filled with fun shops and restaurants. A sure pleaser for the kids is a ride on the Georgetown Loop's narrow-gauge steam train. It is a six-mile trip that takes you over majestic Devil's Gate Bridge. Whether it's the Fourth of July or Christmas time, Georgetown offers many activities that are fun for the whole family. The Watchable Wildlife Viewing Station offers families the opportunity to view Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, which, by the way, is our state animal! If you are a family who likes to ski together, Loveland Ski Area is only 14 miles away. There is plenty of fun to be had in Georgetown. >Back to Destination Points main page >Find Georgetown on the Destination Points Map >Check Out Lodging Options |
