Are dinosaurs your family's hot topic? The hunt for dinosaurs will lead you on a self guided driving tour through Western Colorado.
"Prehistoric Journey" a dinosaur exhibit at the Denver Museum of Natural History gets you primed. A short hike at the Dinosaur Ridge brings you to the footsteps of ancient lumbering dinosaurs. Spend a couple of nights in Grand County while enjoying all the recreational activities that the Colorado Mountains have to offer. Then hit the dinosaur trail and head for the "Dinosaur Valley". The Colorado Western Museum is interactive and provides the perfect stop before going off on an actual dinosaur dig or outdoor walks through dinosaur land.
A must see for "dino lovers" is Dinosaur National Monument, on the Colorado/Utah border. It is home to the Dinosaur Quarry, an angular glass and steel building, which houses a rock wall with the most fantastic collection of dinosaur bones and skeletons preserved right on its face. Depending on the season, a float down the Yampa or Green rivers may be the best way to experience Dinosaur National Monument and end your family's pre-historic journey.
